Dr. Zb\u00edral has been awarded the ERC Consolidator Grant for a five-year research project \u201c Networks of Dissent: Computational Modelling of Dissident and Inquisitorial Cultures in Medieval Europe \u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are delighted to announce that Dr. David Zb\u00edral has been awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant for a five-year (2021-2026) research project: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c Networks of Dissent: Computational Modelling of Dissident and Inquisitorial Cultures in Medieval Europe \u201d<\/u><\/a>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

also known as DISSINET.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grant is worth 2 million Euros. Building on the progress already made by the project team under the funding of a Czech Science Foundation EXPRO grant (awarded in 2019), the new expanded Dissinet project will provide an unprecedented \u201c networked \u201d understanding of dissident religious and inquisitorial cultures in medieval Europe through a vast computational analysis of the social, spatial, and textual relationships by which they were formed and recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employing cutting-edge digital techniques well-adapted to this purpose – social network analysis, geographic information science, and computational text analysis, the project will also open up a significant new dimension in the conversation between history and the social sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Zb\u00edral is the first ever recipient of any ERC grant at the Faculty of Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Utilisant des techniques num\u00e9riques de pointe bien adapt\u00e9es \u00e0 cet objectif – analyse des r\u00e9seaux sociaux, science de l’information g\u00e9ographique et analyse informatique des textes, le projet ouvrira \u00e9galement une nouvelle dimension significative dans la relation entre l’histoire et les sciences sociales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
